Full Description

A hut circle at Leathad Breac. Originally recorded by the OS as hut circle 'B'. See MHG10054 for hut circle 'A'.

At NH 6172 9760 and NH 6183 9749 are two hut circles (A and B respectively) with an accompanying field system. Both huts are heavily peat-covered.
'A' measures 14m in diameter over a sparse wall exhibiting one or two outer facing stones in situ. Opposing lining slabs in the entrance from the ESE give an entrance width of 1.3m.
'B', set back in the slope, measures approximately 5.1m in diameter within a wall spread to 2m and up to 0.7m high; the entrance is in the E. Large blocks are evident in the wall.
The field system comprises numerous heaps and rickles of stone clearance and tenuous traces of occasional lynchets. No measureable plots are discernible.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (J M) 4 September 1980.

The feature is visible in vertical aerial photography. <1>
