Full Description
Remains of a field system with possible dykes and and clearance cairns at Drumashie. See MHG3541 for the hut circle.
At NH 6424 3728, set into a slight E slope, is a circular stone-walled hut, measuring c. 12.0m in diameter between the centres of a wall spread to c. 3.0m all round. The splayed entrance in the E is c. 1.0m wide inside, increasing to c. 2.2m outside. On the N side of the entrance is an upright block, which is now loose, and may not be in situ. Around the W arc of the hut, is an external depression, c. 0.2m deep and 1.0m wide. Extending SW from the hut is an area of stone clearance heaps probably from contemporary plots, though details are obscured by previous afforestation.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (N K B) 13 Feburary 1970.
Definite and possible clearance cairns are scattered across the area and they and possibly related enclosure dykes are visible in vertical aerial photography and Scottish Gov./SEPA LiDAR data. <1> <2>
