Full Description

A large hut circle at Braemore near Lairg. The feature is visible on vertical aerial photography as a large circular feature c. 14m in diameter. It is not shown on any OS mapping. <1> <2> <3>

The site was visited and photographed by A Coombs and D Kennedy on 16/07/2021. The structure, a roundhouse, sits on a slight rise and appears to be revetted with stone into the slope on the southwest side. The round house is c.9.5m across internally with stone and turf walls up to c.2m wide. There is a possible southeast facing entrance c.1.5m wide. There is a post and wire fence lying north-south across the west third of the structure. <4>
