Full Description

Two areas of rig and furrow to the south of Garthbeg. They are visible in vertical aerial photography and the western area appears to partly overlie a hut circle (see MHG65830). It was not noted during a walkover survey carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2013 in advance of the proposed Correigarth Wind Farm (see EHG4401), but it is unclear whether this area was actually visited at the time. By 2015 the curve of an access track had been constructed immediately adjacent to the southwest arc of the hut circle and it has removed a small area of the rig of the western area. The rig may be part of the cultivated areas associated with the settlement of 'Garthenmor' (Garthmore) as shown on the Roy Military Survey maps. <1> <2> <3> <4>

A further area of rig formerly lay to the north (see MHG65834).
