Full Description

Two former areas of camp for Tain Airfield. Known as 'No 8 Site'. Most of the areas is now covered by trees but at least one building and a partially buried structure are visible from the road. A modern building has been constructed just to the south of the partially buried stucture, possibly re-using a concrete base for one of the former buildings.

Detailed plans of the airfield dating to 1945-6 are held by the Royal Air Force Museum. A digital copy (albeit undated) is held in the HER collections. The camp is shown and labelled on the plan but the functions of the buildings are currently unknown. <1>
