Full Description
A multi-vallate enclosure or several phases of overlapping enclosures at Causeymire, Bad à Cheò. The feature or features is/are not shown on OS mapping but is/are visible on vertical aerial photographs, with those taken in 2003-4 showing them the clearest, and Scottish Gov/SEPA LiDAR data. The site may have been truncated slightly on its east side by one of the access tracks of the Causeymire Wind Farm and was apparently not recognised during the original EIA phase of the development. The feature comprises at least three concentric enclosures or three different phases of enclosure. The earliest would appear to be the outermost and the second, situated both between the outermost and mostly overlaid by the later, central, and more rectilinear enclosure. The two presumably earlier enclosures are oval, though the southeast stretch of the bank of the outermost, which is also the largest of the three, is not as clear or prominent. There are no apparent signs of cutivation remains or occupation and without further investigation they are very difficult to date. <1> <2>
