A figure of eight structure. As a shieling it lies in a somewhat exposed position. It measures 7m by 3.5m east to west is built of rough boulders and is very ruinous with much tumbled stone.

Full Description
Lying on the summit of a birch-covered knoll which lies 100m SW of the sharp bend in the road, about 110m OD is a degraded, boulder built, single cell shieling. The remains measure 6.8m by 3.5m over walls 1.0m wide. There is no obvious entrance. To the W are four small plots of lazy beds and to the S is a small area of rig cultivation with associated clearance cairns.

An Archaeological Survey of the townships of North & South Screapadal, with a survey of the surrounding area, on Raasay was undertaken by ACFA in 1998.
This site could have been a small settlement with three possible houses or shielings and several areas of terracing and lazy beds close by.
Feature 1C; Shieling. On the top of a knoll at the highest point of this site at 130m, is a figure of eight structure. As a shieling it lies in a somewhat exposed position. It measures 7m by 3.5m east to west is built of rough boulders and is very ruinous with much tumbled stone. No internal features or an entrance could be determined. The two sub-circular chambers measure 3m by 2.5m (east) and 3m by 3m (west). Several areas of improved ground with rig and/or lazy bed lie to the west, south and east of the knoll. Some of these areas are on small man-made terraces, some with enclosing banks, and one has been incorporated into the upcast from a drainage ditch to protect [supposedlyJ the forest plantation. <1>
