Full Description

Lying on flat ground covered in part by heather, grass and rushes on either side of the Allt Dubh Mor, the remains of several shieling-huts and a house are indicated by a change in vegetation.

Feature 8; measures 3m long E-W by 2.7m N-S. The south and west walls are 0.6m wide, having substantial stones in two or three courses reaching 0.5m in height. The north wall is less distinct with a possible entrance. A stance type enclosure at the east end 1.7m wide is quite faint. The interior is grass and rush covered.

Feature 9; lying 8m east of Feature 8, is the remains of a rectangular stone built structure 10.4m long by 3.0m wide lying on an E-W axis. The whole is much overgrown by heather with only intermittent stones apparent except for the east gable, which shows at least five courses of stonework which have slumped outwards. There is tumble beyond this gable which has been a substantial wall. The absence of stone from the west end in particular of Feature 9, and only residual stones in both long walls, implies the removal of the nearest material in order to construct Feature 8, the later building. <1>
