Full Description
Feature 4. Stone line enclosure.
This linear feature, probably an enclosure, lies at the base of a 3m high sand dune on flat grassland some 100m from Sandwood Loch. The stone line is 9.5m long on a NW-SE axis and returns at right angles at each end to the north east side of the dune. The line comprises large rounded boulders giving the wall a width of 0.8rn and a maximum height of 0.3m. An alternative possibility that this might be a house type structure with half its width covered by sand has been considered. This seems unlikely, but in the absence of excavation is not entirely ruled out. <1>
