Full Description
A second archaeological survey of Sandwood Estate in the parish of Eddrachillis was undertaken by ACFA in 2002.
Feature 2; Possible Graves . On the west-facing slope of a gully, between two rocky mounds at approximately 30m OD lies a small boat-shaped setting of stones. The setting lies E-W on its long axis, measures 2.9m by 1.8m internally and has two large upright stones, 0.5m and 0.6m high offset at the east end. On the summit of the mound some 20m to the north, five large boulders each over Im high are set on slab bedrock, and there is a suggestion of a stone edging on the south side. A short distance to the northwest (NC 1872 5907) a small oval slightly raised area 1.5m N-S by 1.1m E-W is edged with small stones. It is thought these features may be graves. <1>
