Full Description
Remains of a farmstead possibly previously called 'Teynandruineach'. The site is shown as an unnamed sheepfold on the OS 1st Edition map but on vertical aerial photography the immediate area shows evidence of former cultivation so a farm almost certainly preceded the sheepfold which was probably created out of the former farmhouse and/or associated buildings. An OS Field Officer who visited the area in 1971 (looking for a stone circle reported in 1857 on a farm called 'Teynandruineach' - see MHG5436) was unable to find any local knowledge of the name. It is not surprising that no local knowledge of the site's name waas apparent in 1971 as the farm would have gone out of use before the OS 1st Edition was published. <1>
