Full Description

These buildings were photographed as part of a character appraisal of Cawdor Conservation Area in 2015. <1>

The 'C' listed former Post Office House, UID050, is an occupied domestic building, the former Post Office, UID051, is a commercial building. These buildings are semi-detached.

UID051
This building fronts directly onto a raised pavement on the internal minor road. To the south side there is a picket gate followed by a mortared stone wall with hedge behind it.

A L shaped building with a wing to the rear, this building is built of harl pointed rubble stone with tooled rubble dressings.

The roof is traditional Scottish slate with leaded ridgelines, a single end stone corniced stack with two tall matching clay pots and black traditional style metal guttering and downpipes. Where the roof joins to UID050 it has a hip end.

Chimney appears to be part of UID 50 but could be shared/51s. Ex comersal building, with lower glass panels frosted and logoed. Harlling in need of repair.

The building has two dormer windows with slate sides, slate roofs with lead ridge and lead sealings. The dormers have black wooden frontage with four light sash windows with white wooden frames.

The ground floor has four large four light studio windows. It is of note that the bottom two panes on each is frosted and has commercial motifs.

To the front is a red wooden period double door, with a wood panel above and a brass round handle. There are two steps onto pavement.
