Full Description
NH85NW 7 824 551.
A settlement of four stone-walled huts (A-D). Huts A, B, and C are oval, oriented WNW to ESE, D is circular.
Hut dimensions are given between wall centres. Hut A c12.5m by c10.5m with wall spread to c4m all round. Entrance in ESE is ill-defined.
B c16m by 12.5m with the wall spread to c4m all round. The 'simple' entrance is in ESE.
C is denuded, c14.5m x c12.5m with wall spread to indeterminate width. The entrance in ESE is ill-defined.
D c9m diameter with wall spread to c2.5m all round. The entrance in ESE is ill-defined.
There is no evidence of cultivation contemporary with the huts.
Surveyed at 1/2500 Visited by OS (R L) 7 January 1971.
These hut-circles are situated on top of a slight hummock in light woodland. Vary in size from 9-16m between wall centres.
