Full Description
Chapel (NR) (Site of) OS 6"map, (1959)
Nothing is known of this chapel but the outline of the foundation of a rectangular building is visible in the turf. The field in which it lies is named 'Chapel-field.'
G Bain 1928.
The scant remains of a chapel inside a near square burial ground measuring about 24m square within a ruinous stone wall. The chapel survives as vague turf-covered footings oriented ENE-WSW and measuring about 13m by about 6.5m.
Surveyed at 1/2500. Visited by OS (A A) 23 February 1971.
Turf-covered footings, apparently representing a rectangular building surrounded by the remains of a near-square enclosure wall, may represent a chapel, the former existence of which is suggested by the name of the locality.
RCAHMS 1978, visited April 1978.
