A possible 'mansion' house in a field known as 'Achadh Nan Uaigh' at Birchfield.

The ruins of an old mansion house stand in field called 'Achadh nan Uaigh' - the field of the graves - N of Birchfield House. <1>

No remains were seen in this field.

A large rectangular feature, orientated roughly NNE-SSW can be seen expecially on vertical aerial photographs dating to 2013 at NGR 249446 899235 in the centre of the field as it is shown on the OS 1st Edition map. It is approximately 38m long and 15m wide, indicated by a change in vegetation which marks out the perimeter. The feature can also be seen on aerial photographs dating to 1999-2001 but is not so distinct. <2>
