OS 6" map, Ross-shire, 2nd ed., (1907)
A hut circle in the W end of Balligh Wood, composed of large boulders. Name Book 1874.
In cleared woodland is a denuded circular hut measuring 9.2m in diameter within a stone wall, 1.6m thick, of which both the inner and outer wall faces of contiguous stones set on edge are visible intermittently. The "simple" entrance, c.1.3m wide, in the E, is flanked on the S side by an earthfast stone. The hut has been robbed as there is no trace of the wall core and several facing stones are scattered loosely both inside and outside the hut. There is no trace of contemporary cultivation.
Revised at 1/2500 (OS {W D J}).
Visited by OS (W D J) 14 May 1963 and (R L) 21 October 1970.
