At Castle Haven, shell-middens were found in abundance. In addition to the usual littoral shellfish remains, cod bones and spines of skate were found in quantity, indicating middens of a later date than those found at Castle Corbet (NH98SW 10). The Castle Haven middens were (c1872) nearly all cleared away when reclaiming the land.
