Castle (NR) (Site of) OS 6" map, Ross-shire, 2nd ed., (1907)
Castle at Shandwick built by Wm Ross of Little Allen c1460. There is no sign of fosse or moat. Building materials have long been removed (ONB 1872). The remains of castle were entirely removed by quarrying for road ballast in 1942 (Info from J Howdle to OS 18 August 1959). Name Book 1872.
No further information. Visited by OS (I S S) 29 August 1972
