Doupac Well (NAT) OS 6" map, (1959)
Doupac Well is a spring well contributing to water supply of Fortrose. The name is alleged by Fraser to be a corruption of Duthac's Well. Name Book 1871; D Fraser 1912.
Doupac Well is still in use but covered by a stone slab 2m square and 0.1m thick. The slab could not be moved to ascertain the nature of the well or spring underneath. Fraser's allegation that the name is a corruption of Duthac's Well" is probably correct.
Visited by OS (N K B) 9 March 1966.
