Full Description
1st ed OS shows a "Cornmill" at Pollo. Buildings on N side of the road are fed by a mill lade to NW & fed from pond (separately numbered) to N of this - HAW 2/2003
This building is described in the report on a walkover survey carried out in 2000. The building on the site is apparently more substantial than described in the NMRS ('a single storey with attic building of rubble masonry') but obviously used to be a mill. The building has been converted into a house. A millstone was observed on the roadside. The mill lade appears to be no longer flowing, and it is assumed that the tailrace flowed back into the stream before it crossed under the bridge. <1> NB this is confirmed by the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map. <2>
