Cairn (NR) OS 6"map, Ross-shire, 2nd ed., (1907)
At the north side of the Spittal Wood is a cairn which has been greatly enlarged by the farmers who have carted stones off their fields and placed them there.
Name Book 1872.
A heap of field cleared stones, measuring 20m E-W by 5m and about 1.2m high, in corner of a field. There is nothing to indicate that it was an earlier cairn and the situation and form of heap suggests that it is all field clearance.
Visited by OS (I S S) 29 March 1973.
