Full Description

NH58NE 1 585 884.

(NH 585 884) A small area of depopulation consisting of the footings of five buildings and associated enclosures. The buildings, which include a kiln, vary in size from 21m x 5.6m x 0.6m high to 6.6m x 3.5m x 0.2m high. At the south edge of the area is a small circular enclosure 9.4m in diameter, probably an old sheepfold. Possibly a large croft or farm. Visited by OS (W D J) 30 May 1963.

Three unroofed buildings, two enclosures and a length of field wall are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire and Cromartyshire 1881, sheet xxvi). Two unroofed buildings are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1992).
