Stone Cist containing Human Remains found AD 1869 (NAT) OS 6"map, Caithness, 2nd ed., (1907)
An old stone coffin containing human remains was removed about 1869. The site is within 30m of a building, Torranakist, the name of which, though applied merely to a labourer's cottage, is significant. There is no further info, but see Cairn of Howe (ND06SE 3).
Name Book 1872; Visited by OS (J H) 17 June 1965.
No trace can be found of this cist and no info can be gained as to its association with any cairn - not even the Cairn of Howe, q.v.

There is no local knowledge of this cist or its contents. The site occurs in a hollow, which suggests it may be inaccurate.
