NG82NW 13 845 253.

Centred at NG 845 253 are six 'platform' features lying in a WNW-ESE orientation. These are circular with overall diameters respectively c.2.0m, 2.0m., 2.6m., 2.45m., 2.11., and 2.12m and consist of a kerb of large boulders surrounding a low (0.25m) platform of smaller stones. The corresponding distances between the centres of each feature being c.7.1m, 19.4m, 11.5m, 10.3m and 11.5m respectively.
These are almost certainly stack bases for hay storage, associate with the strip fields which cover the N part of the island. No house footings were noted, and it is likely that the island was cultivated from Aversish on the N shore Ardentoul on the S shore of Loch Alsh. Mr E Macrae Drudaig Farm, whose sheep graze the island, points out that the small lochan on the E side contains fresh water, and that the pasture is rich.
