Full Description

NC83SW 19 801 335.

Centred at NC 801335 on a SW-facing hill slope there is a settlement of four huts ('A' - 'D') and an associated minor field system. Where preserved, the huts' entrances are in the S.
'A' and 'B' are the same size 12m N-S by 11m internally. 'A',set into slope,is the more clearly defined, with a largely turf-covered wall spread to 2.5m widening to 4m at the entrance. The entrance of 'B' has been destroyed by quarrying. 'C' is about 11.5m in diameter within a severely disfigured wall spread to 2.5m. 'D', defined by a platform, is about 10.5m in diameter within a fragmentary wall best preserved in the E. A quarry intrudes into the S arc.
A minor field system of about 6 hectares surrounds the huts. It is defined by widely-spaced clearance heaps and, rarely, lynchets. The ground has a smooth stone-free appearance in contrast with the hummocky surrounding ground.
Surveyed at 1:10 560. Visited by OS (J B) 3 March 1977
