Full Description

A hut circle below Ben Griam Beg, originally recorded by the OS as hut circle 'A'. See MHG for 'B'.

'A': NC 8541 4010, 'B': NC 8550 4002
Centred on NC 854 400, at the foot of the E side of Ben Griam Beg, are two heather-covered hut circles ('A' and 'B'). They are 9.5m in diameter internally with the wall of 'B' - spread to 3.5m and 0.4m high - noticeably stronger than that of 'A'. Both huts are entred from the SE.
Apart from a few isolated heather covered clearance heaps there is no trace of contemporary cultivation; the area is thickly laden with peat and poorly drained.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (J B) 8 June 1977.

The site is visible in vertical aerial photographs taken in 2004, included within the 'Millennium Map' series. <1>
