(NC 8879 6192) Hut Circle (NR)
OS 25"map, (1976)

A hut circle discovered during field investigation.
Surveyed at 1:2500.
Visited by OS (A A) 7 November 1972.

This hut circle, overlooking a burn to the North, is 10.0m in diameter within a low wall spread to 2.5m. The ill-defined entrance is in the SE. A number of stones from the wall lie inside the hut. Attached to the wall outside the hut, just N of the entrance, is a peat-covered sub-circular construction about 2.5m in diameter within a low wall, more slender than that of the hut, spread to 1.5m. A poorly-defined gap in the S is probably the entrance. This feature is likely to be contemporary with the hut and can be compared with the twin external chambers of NC96SW 4 (Hut B). A few clearance heaps lie to the east, but no plots were discernible.
Visited by OS (J B) 21 June 1977.
