(NC 9636 1745) Enclosure (NR).
OS 6"map, (1964)

An oval-shaped enclosure (A) was located during fieldwork.
Visited by OS (W D J) 17 May 1960.

NC 964 172. On a steep W-facing hillslope in open moorland is a settlement of three oval, stone-walled huts (A-C) within a field system. Huts A and B are broadly similar, set into the slope.
A, the better-preserved, is 10.0m N-S by 9.0m E-W internally within a wall 0.6m high, spread to 2.5m broad on the N side but wider on the revetted W arc. Details of the entrance in the S are obscured by soil slip.
B is 14.5m N-S by 14.0m E-W overall with a number of outer facing stones visible, especially in the E arc. The wall width is uncertain; the entrance was probably in the S.
Only fragmentary remains of hut C can be seen; it is mainly overgrown with peat. It measures 12.0m NNW-SSE by 10.0m overall with a probable entrance gap in the SSE.
The field system occupying five hectares of steep hillslope is well-defined in the vicinity of hut A, where cleared ground bounded by stone clearance heaps and lynchets is visible. There are several plots; one measures 40.0m by 15.0m ruined field wall extends for about 40.0m from N arc of hut A.
Surveyed at 1:10,560.
Visited by OS (N K B) 24 May 1976.

The hut circle is visible in vertical aerial photography. <1> <2>
