Full Description

(A: NC 90642254, B: NC 90672245, & NC 90652254) Settlement (NR) OS 25"map, (1970)

In rising moorland with a south-westerly aspect are two hut circles (A and B), discovered during field investigation, (Info from OS (J M) 21 Feburary 1961 and (Info from OS (R L) 21 Feburary 1968), in association with a minor field system. The last, in an area masked by heather, is evidenced by sporadic mounds of stone clearance; cultivation plots are not discernible.
'A', set into the slope and well-preserved, stands to 1.4m in N. It is 12m by 11. inside a robust wall spread to 3m broad in W arc and at a clubbed entrance from S, the latter on line of the greater axis, reducing to 2m elsewhere.
'B', on a low rise and poorly-defined, 13m N-S by 11m inside much reduced peat-silted wall at best vaguely spread to 2m in NE segment. Slight depression in S quarter probably indicates entrance.
At NC 90652254 adjacent to hut 'A' is a vague platform about 7m idiameter. It was formerly considered to be a hut circle (Info from OS (R L) 21 Feburary 1968) but it appears natural.
Hut B - Surveyed at 1:10 560.
Hut A - Surveyed at 1:10 560.
Visited by OS (J M) 21 Feburary 1968
