Full Description

Hut Circle (NR) OS 6"map, (1964)

A circular, stone-walled hut circle. RCAHMS 1911, visited 1909; Visited by OS (W D J) 13 May 1960.

The hut circle, levelled into a low slope near the bottom of a sourth-facing hillside, is about 6.5m in internal diameter. The wall, robust and heather- overgrown, expands in estimated width from 1.7m in NW arc to 3.5m at an entrance gap in SE; it stands to an average 0.5m in height. Contemporary agrigulture is shown by a scattering of stone clearance heaps along the hillside to the E, previously noted as "the remains of several mounds" (RCAHMS 1911); field plots as such are not discernible.
Visited by OS (J M) 21 April 1976.
