(NC 9441 1093) Hut Circle (NR) OS 25"map, (1969)
A hut circle was discovered during field investigation and surveyed at 1:2500. Visited by OS (N K B) 1 March 1968.
An oval stone-walled hut circle built-up on a slope and situated within an area of 18/19th century abandoned settlement. It is 11.0m N-S by 10.0m inside a turf-covered wall averaging 2.5m in width. On west side of the entrance in south there is an unusually large boulder which appears slightly displaced. The amorphous remains of an enclosure of the later settlement abut the outside of the hut in NNW.
On the close-cropped heathery slopes about 80m to south are one or two associated stone clearance heaps and remnants of a wasted field wall.
Surveyed at 1:10 560. Visited by OS (J M) 12 February 1976.
