Pathways into the Past is a series of training sessions in desk based assessment run by Archaeology for Communities in the Highlands (ARCH) looking at written, historical maps and aerial photographs in conjunction with the HER. This project, which took place between September and December 2011, was focussed on the Milton section of an old network of routeways running from Tarradale to Tain. The project area covered the approximate area of Kincraig House Hotel, north-east of Alness, to Balnagowan Estate, north of Milton and Kildary.

The project collected some intriguing information about the area, including no less than three punishment/execution sites. Follow the link to see a full list of records added or updated as a result of this project.
