Cromarty Homes and Heritage was a project run in 2013 by a consortium of community groups based in Cromarty and facilitated by Ross and Cromarty Archaeological Services. It was one of the first in Scotland to receive a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) All Our Stories grant. The project involved getting local people to share their memories of buildings in the Black Isle town. Using many of the old maps and photographs available in the town’s Courthouse Museum, people from the community, old and young, new arrivals and Cromarty ‘born and bred’ were encouraged to recall stories about buildings that still exist as well as some that have been lost.
