Description
AOC Archaeology Group undertook a small scale archaeological excavation on land adjacent to Littleferry Pier, Golspie, Sutherland (NGR NH 8051 9565) under the terms of the Historic Scotland Human Remains Call-off Contract. The work was undertaken on December 11th/12th and December 18th 2003, and followed a request for assistance from the Highland Council Archaeology Unit after human remains had been uncovered during the excavation of a new sewer trench. Part of single human burial was excavated and removed. The date of the burial was not established, although it was demonstrated that it was not of recent origin. <1>
The excavation assemblage, including the human remains, were submitted to Treasure Trove (TT 16/09) and allocated to the NMS. <2> <3>
