EHG136 - Walkover Survey - Inverasdale
Technique(s)
Organisation
Scotia Archaeology Ltd
Date
February 1995
Description
An archaeological field survey was carried out along the proposed route of a mains water supply pipe near Inverasdale, Wester Ross in February 1995. Approximately 2km of mains pipe is to be renewed; and a further 1km of new pipeline will be installed at the S end of the survey area. The objectives of the survey were: to establish the nature and extent of any archaeological remains that may lie within the route of the pipeline; to draw such findings to the attention of representatives of R L McLeod (Contractors) Ltd; and to suggest what courses may be taken to minimise damage to the archaeological record. Prior to the commencement of fieldwork, a search was made of all relevant documentation held by the National Monuments Record of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland and the Scottish Record Office. Fieldwork was carried out on a bright, sunny day when there was a very light snow cover: the weather, low light and dearth of undergrowth provided ideal conditions for survey work. <1>
