Description
A standard building survey was requested as part of the planning consent (ref CA-07-536) for the demolition of two 19th century croft buildings and the erection of a dwelling. The croft buildings were unusual in that they were two of a relatively small number of roofed Caithness vernacular croft buildings still retaining significant elements of their late 19th and earlier 20th century appearance. The exact dating and phasing of the buildings are unclear but reflect agricultural changes in Caithness over the last 150 years. There are no recommendations for further work <1>.
