Technique(s)
Organisation

Date
Aug 2001
Description
An evaluation comprising ten trial trenches was carried out by CFA Archaeology at North Head, Broadhaven, Wick in 2001 in advance of a proposed extension to a wastewater treatment plant. The mechanically excavated trenches covered c.6.5% of the evaluation area. The trenches measured from 11 to 80m in length by 1.6m wide. Only clay subsoil and soakaway field drains were revealed although two linear features, thought to be the remains of early drainage channels were also seen. <1>
