Description

A walkover survey was undertaken by Anne Bankier on land to the north of allt Sanna, eastwards to the depopulated township of Plocaig, and then further east taking in a c.100m broad coastal strip as far as Eigin-aig. The aim was to identify all the visible archaeology within the survey area as part of the larger research agenda of assessing the evidence for Norse settlement in northern Argyll. The work was funded by The Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland and the Caledonian Research Foundation Scholarship. <1> Note that the geographical representation of this survey area is an estimated extent based on the above description. <2>
