Technique(s)
Organisation
Headland Archaeology Ltd
Date
February 2007
Description
During excavation of the quarry face it became apparent that the south-east face of the borrow-pit was in danger of being undermined and collapsing, which would lead to the loss of one of the nearby clearance cairns. An area 5m wide was topsoil stripped immediately back from the quarry face and the clearance cairn was fully excavated. <1>
