Description

An archaeological excavation was undertaken by AOC Arechgaeology Group in 2011 to preserve by record archaeological features uncovered during earlier phases of work on the new Beechwood Campus, Inverness. The work was commissioned by Highlands & Islands Enterprise. The excavation revealed numerous settlement features of archaeological significance including several Bronze Age / Iron Age roundhouses and enclosure structures local across the development area, together with evidence of Neolithic settlement in the northern part of the development area. The current report presents interim results. Appropriate post-excavation analyses will be undertaken leading to a final report and publication. <1> <2>
