EHG4115 - DBA and walkover survey - former Herring Station, Dunan, Skye
Technique(s)
Organisation
Stuart Farrell
Date
April 2009
Description
A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were undertaken by Stuart Farrell in 2009 in advance of a proposed house to be sited close to the former herring station at Dunan, Skye. Work revealed that the site dates from the mid 19th century and consists of a number of previously unrecorded archaeological structures, including the main building with adjoining store and stackyard, and a building, possibly a store, with a small boat naust. <1>
The report states that it is interim and that additional historical research may be carried out. As of 2014 this does not appear to have been carried out.
