EHG5156 - Watching Brief - Beauly Priory

Technique(s)

Organisation

Kirkdale Archaeology

Date

March-April 2013

Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken at Beauly Priory during the felling of a pine tree, the roots of which appeared to be interfering with the closure of the gate giving access to the Priory grounds from the High Street. In addition, the slabs immediately inside the gate were to be lifted so that the sandy bedding below could be reduced to aid the proper closure of the gate. A second visit was made to monitor the removal of the roots. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted. <1>
