Description

The remains of Crosskirk broch, unsafe through coastal erosion, was excavated by H Fairhurst and D B Taylor in 5 seasons in 1966 and 1969- 1972 on behalf of DoE, before being filled in and levelled, earthed over and seeded with grass. <1> Season 1: 07/1966 Season 2: 07/1970 Season 3: 29/06-17/07/1970 Season 4: 05-23/07/1971 Season 5: 03-21/07/1972
