AOC Archaeology Group

Date

March 2019

Description

A programme of archaeological works comprising site survey and watching brief was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2019-2020 in advance of, and during, reconductoring works for the overhead line between Nairn and Keith. The works were carried out between March 2019 and February 2020, with the first part, Nairn to Elgin in March 2019. At Tower 165 near Inshoch House, while there were to be no direct impacts to this site, the Scheduled area was recommended for demarcation prior to the start of groundworks to prevent vehicular movement within the area. A site visit was made on 19th March 2019, which revealed the monument was already securely fenced off from the area of development. As the works to Tower 165 would not involve any vehicles being within the fenced area, no demarcation was carried out. Otherwise, no archaeological features or deposits were recorded within the Highland Council part of the project. <1>
