Date

October 1995

Description

An archaeological survey of a proposed plantation at An Ruadh Bruach, Glenshieldaig was commissioned by Scottish Woodlands, on behalf of Kinlochdamph Estate, to form part of an Environmental Assessment. This involved an initial deskbound survey of all known reference material including the earlier OS map series and the Sites & Monuments Record held by Highland Regional Council in Clachnaharry Schoolhouse. This was followed by a field visit to look sites on the ground. The survey was carried out on the 31st October, a day of low mist and repeated showers of rain and drizzle. The site was revisited on the 1st November to confirm and define the extent of the sites recorded. The area was walked from south to north with particular attention being given to the sheltered areas beside the burns. <1>
