Date
March 1998
Description
The Sands Farm WGS survey area covers 83 ha of land on the River Sand, 3km north-west of Gairloch. The survey area is at 50 to 100 m OD and covers the west end of a low ridge, Druim an Fheadain, which is bounded to the north and south by the small but steep-sided valleys of the Allt na Droma Leithe and Allt an Fheadain. The land is currently used as rough pasture. The survey area was systematically walked by a team of two archaeologists and all features of archaeological interest were identified and described. Where necessary the archaeological features were located using a Total Station. Conditions for the survey were generally good with low vegetation and adequate light and visibility. <1>
