Date

Jan 2002

Description

Archaeological trial trenching was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2002 at George Wilson Road, Auldearn, in advance of a proposed housing development. Twenty-one trenches were excavated. A limited number of features dispersed across the western half of the study area were recorded. These included a large curvilinear pit, two small industrial pits, a small charcoal filled pit and rig and furrow cultivation remnants. A number of anomalies had been recorded by geophysical survey of cropmarks across the eastern side of the site (see EHG712), but no trace of these could be identified in the trenches. <1>
