EHG8 - DBA and walkover survey - Upper Diabaig, Loch Torridon

Technique(s)

Organisation

Catherine Dagg

Date

March 2000

Description

A desk-based assessment and rapid walkover survey of a proposed area of planting was carried out at Upper Diabaig, Loch Torridon, by C Dagg in March 2000. The object of the survey was to identify previously unrecorded archaeological features, and to recommend measures to protect these features from damage by planting or fencing operations. This survey identified fifteen features which are not yet indexed on the HER. The nature of many of the features suggests that the land was in use during the pre-Clearance period, if only as a seasonal shieling site. <1>
