Full Description
An archaeological walkover survey was undertaken by Wordsworth Archaeological Services in 1996 at Claggersnich Farm, Cromdale.
In the north east corner of this field where three fences join is a semi-circular enclosure some 10m in diameter partly defined by a stone dyke 0.75m wide and composed of large boulders. Only 5m of this wall now survives, partly obscured by stone dumping on the east. A knoll over 1m high is defined by this extending outside the present farm boundary and it has been partly quarried away. Too little of this feature now survives for its original function to be clear. It may have been another limekiln. <1><2>
