Full Description
An archaeological walkover survey was undertaken by Wordsworth Archaeological Services in 1996 at Claggersnich Farm, Cromdale.
This area of peat covered moorland may once have been cultivated on the evidence of field clearance stones on the West bank of the Alli Mhic Neacail opposite the lime kiln above. The edge of this field can be seen on the 1868-71 OS survey. No clearance cairns are evident here nor is there any sign of field boundaries. Grassy knolls suggest there is a developed soil here, though this may only be the result of rabbits turning the soil. It would have formed part of Craggan Farm. <1>
